Abstract
During the life of a mature reservoir, conventional interpretation of three-dimensional seismic data may not be effective or reliable, especially when the final purpose of this interpretation is to provide a highly detailed reser-voir description and characterization. We therefore suggest inverting simultaneously the prestack seismic data with respect to the elastic layer properties (i.e., P-wave impedance, S-wave impedance, density, elastic moduli, etc.), which has the advantages of being closer to the desired reservoir properties (lithology, NTG, porosity, saturations, etc.) and of being less contaminated by the wavelet than conventional seismic data.
