Basic Seismology 12—Heron of Alexandria and Fermat's principle of least time

Heron of Alexandria, a Greek mathematician who lived approximately 10–70 CE and taught at the Museum in Alexandria, wrote on the measurement of geometric figures and apparently had a flair for invention that was centuries before his time.
